My Students

As the music teacher of an elementary school, I teach every child on the campus. I get to see my students figure out their interests, their passions, and their goals between the ages of five and eleven. My students are kind, thoughtful, interesting, and very diverse in culture and life experiences.

My goal as an elementary music teacher is to help students find the best ways to express themselves.

I want to instill in my students a sense of their creative power and knowledge of how to communicate their wants, needs, desires, thoughts, and feelings.

My Project

My students are creative, curious, and inquisitive. They are always looking for something new to discover and learn. When they come to music class they are most excited to play instruments and explore new ways to utilize sound in their expressions of self.

This year, I would like to begin teaching my students how to play the ukulele.

My curriculum has a few ukulele lessons in it, yet I have been unable to afford to buy ukuleles with my yearly budget. Playing string instruments requires both sides of the brain and provides a new way for students to express themselves through music from what they’re used to in music class.

Please help me provide this new opportunity for my students!
