Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our campus is located in Dallas, Texas. This is my 5rd year as a third and fourth grade bilingual teacher. My students are English Language Learners (ELL) and come from low income households. They are an enthusiastic groups of learners with many different learning styles as well as different special needs. Also they are hard working kids who are motivated to achieve their highest score! With the help of DonorsChoose.org, my students will have a great opportunity to have a successful school year with the materials they need.
My Project
I am asking to provide my students with the access to a diversity of books to increase their reading comprehension skills based on their unique needs.
I want my students be fully prepared on reading comprehension, while also increasing their own levels of fluency.
In order to do this, it would be essential that they have access to a diverse library in the classroom. Also, I want them be able to choose books interesting for them, and a space to be comfortable during reading. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and make the reading interesting and comfortable. This project will only help enrich their experiences, with the printed words.
