I have a class of 1st grade students who are highly motivated and engaged with hands on learning! My class is also diverse in the learning needs of each individual student. Our school moto is be kind, be safe, and be inclusive. My classroom really emulates it in the attitudes that are carried into the room. In our class, we build a community around what we have in common and our shared experiences along with what makes us different and individuals.
Due to COVID-19, I have seen a classroom full of learners that range from 2 years ahead to 2 years behind both academically and socially. I will be able to utilize these kits to target individual learner needs and gaps across the curriculum. It will also help with fine motor skills, number sense, and a strong phoneme and phonemic awareness! This will help encourage them to collaborate with their peers on a regular basis. It will help to enhance what is being taught in the classroom and engage in a hands on learning experience.
