This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in an inner city school where most students qualify for free and reduced meals. Approximately 80% of our students are from low income households. Our school population is very diverse, including students who are African American, White, Hispanic and Asian.
My students are very curious, busy and always passionate about learning new things.
My students bring all different types of learning styles and personalities to the class. They are very active learners and respond well to hands-on activities.
My Project
My students need white boards so that they can participate fully in remote learning. They will be used for writing letters, words, numbers and math problems. White boards will allow for ease in writing, showing their work and erasing.
When returning to school, I would like to welcome students with engaging, hands on materials that they can use for individual, independent learning.
To be safe and cautious, we will not be sharing materials from classroom bins. So my kindergarteners will need to each have materials to use independently. The matching locks, number bots and Wikki Stix will provide my students with opportunities to manipulate and play while learning.
