This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What I love about my students is their curiosity and eagerness to learn. They burst out into Pete the Cat songs, Mr. Sun, and Count on Me spontaneously. They sing and dance and move all day long while doing their work. They love hands-on center learning and cooperative tasks. They love each other so much I had to ban hugging.

They are so special because they are kind-hearted, hard-working and energetic.

One student has special needs and the children embrace her differences and help her in any way possible. It is beautiful to see inclusion working in front of my eyes. They console their classmate who cries because he misses his mom. They are all heart!

My Project

The children are really into counting different objects. I only have a linking cubes and some mini-erasers. I hope that these awesome counters will inspire them to count to 100 and beyond.

I will design center activities to meet the Common Core Kindergarten Math Standards.

We will work on number identification 1-30, counting to 100, addition, subtraction and number comparisons. These counters will be the backbone of my math instruction.

Also, I added in A Caterpillar to Butterfly Big Book Kit to inspire the students to learn about life cycles. It will be awesome for when our caterpillars arrive next month. The Mouse Paint Big Book Kit will help the struggling students learn their colors in a hands-on way.

I would be very grateful for these materials for my students and they and their families would be very appreciative.
