My Students
In this low socioeconomic area, my students are faced with trying times every day. Most students come to my classroom at the beginning of the year at least one grade level behind, sometimes two, but they are not discouraged!
Despite some of their personal challenges, my students are the hardest working young people that I have ever met. My students come to school with a smile on their face and a positive attitude. They are respectful of everyone around them and have an appetite for learning.
My Project
Research has proven time and time again that reading aloud to students is one of the most effective teaching tools in the classroom. I strive to surround my students with rich texts that are meaningful and allow them experience different genres.
I will use each one of these books in a week long focus with engaging lessons and discussions. Students will have the opportunity to analyze the story in many different ways, as well as to read like a writer.
Providing these books for our classroom will allow us to keep the books in within our reach all year long.
