I teach third grade at a diverse, Title I school in southwest Florida. Sixty-one percent of our students receive free or reduced price lunch. Our students come from numerous cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Through lots of hard work, our school continues to help our students succeed.
I encourage lots of independent reading time in my classroom, and I expect my students to read from a range of genres.
They love to trade the books in their book boxes every Monday to find new treasures to read and love.
I recently created a new section in our classroom library to highlight popular children's authors and my students are very excited to read these books! For this project, I am requesting many books to add to this new section. I want to bring additional books by popular authors such as Patricia Polacco, Leo Lionni, Ezra Jack Keats, Rosemary Wells, Tomie dePaola, Bill Peet, and many others into my students' book boxes!
They are excited about the newest section of our classroom library, but there are not enough books to go around!
Can you help us build up this new area with more wonderful books? Thanks for your help!
