Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are part of a diverse community in the Sacramento area and are very excited to enter 4th grade. The elementary school we are part of embraces students from all cultures and all incomes to give them the opportunity to learn and succeed in their goals.
As fourth graders, my students will be very enthusiastic and excited to learn and try new things in order to grow personally and academically.
I want to make sure they have the necessary materials to get the most out of each day in school by having the resources and supplies needed.
As young learners, my students will need access to books in the classroom to learn to read, individual whiteboards to write on, and other resources to enhance their learning experience every day.
My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a purpose. In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! The organizational cubbies and crates will be placed on the shelves and the tables in our classroom to have supplies and workbooks organized. The chart paper will be used to create anchor charts that reflect the discussions we have during our mini-lessons. The use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. Using the workshop model in math, students come to the rug with whiteboards for guided practice and to record modeled strategies. The whiteboards allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work.

The books will help my students to improve their reading skills, and the art supplies will increase their creativity, observation, and self-expression.
