Plato said, "To sing well and to dance well is to be well-educated."
My students are well-educated! I enjoy teaching them dance every single day. And my young dancers love learning and creating through dance every day. They never stop amazing me!
My young dancers are a very talented, creative and eager group of students.
My young dancers challenge me every day and I am always searching for ways to give them a class A dance education. My school is a Title I school located in the hub of the world's greatest dance and theater institutions and most of my students have not had a chance to experience any of them.
My school is a Title I school but that has not stopped us from having the best teachers, students and PTA. My school has the most educated, compassionate and giving school community, and I would not want to teach any where else.
My Project
My students will experience a 8-week dance residency from the world renowned Alvin Ailey school. They will take dance classes for eight weeks from artists from the Ailey school, and they will receive lecture demonstrations to learn the history of Alvin Ailey. My students will not only learn the history of Alvin Ailey and the Horton technique, but they will also perform in a final presentation of what they have learned.
My school is located on a street that was named after Mr. Alvin Ailey.
My young dancers walk pass the street sign with his name on it every day. Donations to this project will help my young dancers better understand the history Mr. Alvin Ailey. Having guest artists will improve my classroom by giving my students a chance to experience dance from someone other than me. My students know that their dance education has been supported by donors on donorschoose.org, and, hopefully, they will pay it forward!
