The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! I currently have a small area for students to use. However, the more alternative seating to engage my students in learning the better. The tall cafe' style table will sit right in the back of class for students to either stand by or sit on the stools. The small chairs and coffee table will go in my writing corner a great place for kids to help each other or work with peers on essays.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work.
Flexible seating offers students ways to collaborate and interact in a positive fashion. Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times they choose a location in the classroom that works for them
The alternative seating allows for a comfortable area for students to interact and share ideas.
