Alternative Seating for Active Minds and Energetic Bodies

My students need flexible seating options to complete their best work in their own way. They need different seating options to keep the focused and carpets to make the hard tile floor more comfortable and warm.

My Students

My 1st Grade students are a mixed group of learners. They come from a variety of backgrounds, have different levels of previous knowledge and work at different levels of enthusiasm.

As 1st Graders they are still adjusting to a full day schedule that can make it hard to stay focused and still for a long period of time.

We're at 40% free/reduced lunch as a school. I have a high energy group that has a strong will to learn and a curiosity about how things work.

My Project

By donating to this project, students will be able to work more freely without distracting others. My students are active around the whole classroom and to make it more comfortable to work we would love to have some new carpets to soften the hard tile floors.

I don't want my students to leave each day with stiff backs and hurting bottoms.

To keep their minds engaged I have requested some fidget toys to meet students sensory needs.

Alternative seating has been proven to help students stay focused. Wiggle seats, yoga balls and cushions will all help to keep students focused and engaged in their learning in different places around the classroom.
