Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in our classrooms work hard every day. Coming from diverse backgrounds and high-needs families, my students work on building GRIT and perseverance. We are a Title I school district and provide free breakfast and lunch to all our students.

Many of my students come from homes that are lacking in books and literature, therefore many of our students are lacking foundational skills like letter sounds and names.

With that being said, making learning fun and engaging is our goal. By donating to our project you will help our students explore new materials and put what they have learned to good use.

My Project

Our students need a set of alphabet sounds learning tubs to help bring phonics to life and enrich their learning.

By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student engagement, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.

These tubs would be used for both reading/language arts and as cross curricular enrichment.

We are requesting alphabet sound teaching tubs from Lakeshore. Many of our 112 first grade students are English Language learners, and the Lakeshore alphabet sounds teaching tubs will bring each letter of the alphabet to life for our children. The 3D objects in each tub will help students master the letter and relate the letter to different objects. By giving the children hands-on materials to relate to each letter will help them identify letters, sort objects, explore letter sounds, and play games that will help them learn and build their vocabulary skills and even writing skills. This will also help them recognize upper and lower case letters, which is a lifelong skill that every student should learn by first grade!
