My Project

Kindergarten sets the foundation of learning for the rest of our kids' school careers. One of the most important things we learn is the basic foundational skills for literacy, including letters and sounds, as well as numbers and counting.

Help us give our kindergarten students hands-on learning materials to grow a solid foundation for literacy and math!

Every year in kindergarten, we start the year with ABC and Number bootcamp. We learn all 26 letters and sounds as well as the 20 numbers. Pre-teaching and explicitly teaching these at the beginning of the year has been highly successful for our kindergarten students in becoming readers and solving math problems including addition and subtraction.

The hands-on materials will be used through direct instruction, partner work, center practice, and independent time.

In addition, at the end of our bootcamps we have a BIG celebration where we will create vests for the letters in our name and parade around the school celebrating all we have learned. I would also love to incorporate numbers into our bootcamp as well this year!
