This was my first project with Donors Choose, and without your support, I could have never made this exciting experience happen for my students.\r\n\r\nThe students at my school come from an economically disadvantaged community, and while my school does an amazing job supporting them and their families, I wanted to provide them with materials in the classroom that they otherwise may not have access to. We have been using our school expectations and students are earning stickers to add to their water bottles. This is helping them understand rules and also they enjoy all the different kinds of stickers they can choose from. \r\n\r\nThe water bottles have made transitions so much easier. We don't have to stop in the hall and get drinks and if a student is thirsty during class their water bottle is available and accessible. \r\n\r\nThese have definitely been a difference maker in our classroom! The kids are enjoying hearing stories and talking to each other about what they are hearing. As the year goes on, we will add recording sheets or ways for the students to respond to the stories. \r\n\r\nIn addition, we have also started to use it as a quiet time after our recess to relax our bodies and get back ready for learning. I will play one of the stories while students take a drink and play playdoh and then we are calm and ready to learn. \r\n\r\nThis product has truly made a difference in our classroom. My 1st graders are using it to count and for learning to add and subtract. My 3rd/4th/and 5th graders are using it to help learn how to round. Being able to see the whole number line and break it into parts has been a game changer.
