My fourth grade students are passionate and excited to learn about the world around them. They come from varied backgrounds according to poverty level, language, culture, race, health conditions, religion, etc. All of my students have different interests and things that motivate them.
The school district believes that every student must be successful.
Our school district supports the philosophy of personalized learning. In order to personalize students' learning, we need to support voice and choice in the classroom. Students need the ability to choose from a variety of interesting and up to date nonfiction literature.
My Project
My students needs current and interesting nonfiction books in the classroom! Most of our nonfiction books we have in our classroom are outdated.
My students need books that are alluring, absorbing, and amusing to motivate them and make them passionate about reading nonfiction books!
During the school year my students will have two units, out of four units, that focus on how to be a strong nonfiction reader. That means for half of the school year they will be reading and working on skills that involve them reading nonfiction books. The skill of reading nonfiction is essential to their future success. Most of the literature they read in their future will be nonfiction. This is why our classroom needs your help! Please help my students become passionate readers of nonfiction!
