Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from very diverse backgrounds. They face challenges both inside and outside of school, yet they show up every day with smiles and eager to learn!
I have cried with my students over their challenges and smiled with them through their successes.
My children as I call them are spirited and smart. When I open my door every day I see their smiling faces, we do a wellness check and make sure they have had breakfast and a night of good night sleep, for some they have not. When they walk through my door I want them to feel loved and not worry about anything except learning and having fun.
My Project
I am a kindergarten teacher in a Title I school. A majority of my students are eager to start school but unfortunately, do not have the supplies. I know that as a child I looked forward to picking out crayons and folders to start my first day of school. I would love to give them the supplies to become successful writers which is a challenge I faced last year.
These supplies will give them the opportunity to create pictures, letters, and stories that they will be able to share with their families.
The journals will be used daily and the paper will help them learn how to properly write the alphabet. The writing utensils will give them the opportunity to write using pencils, markers, and colored pencils.
