All Work and No Play Is a Dull Ram Time

My students need learning games like Story Slam and Absolute Zero to keep those creative brain juices flowing during their enrichment time.

My Students

My students come from one the poorest counties in NC. It is very rural, with much farmland. Many of the students have never been out of this county. We have a large Hispanic population, which creates the need for translators - we rely a lot on our students for this. A large number of our students receive free lunch due to their socioeconomic status.

Being in a low wealth area does not deter our students in the least.

They have much determination and tenacity to succeed. I have seen many leave the county and then return to give back to the community that nurtured them.

My Project

My students need mind challenging games to play during their Ram Time enrichment. Games like Swish, Cat Stax, 60 Second Slam, Man Bites Dog, and Mystery Grams will give their brains another option besides being in front a screen most of the day.

These games will force my students to work together to find solutions and to use their brains to be creative.

I hope to use these as time fillers and maybe as incentives on the last day of the week--we can have Game Night during the day. I could also set these up as different centers to have students rotate through--there are so many options when it comes to having fun while learning!
