This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This community has been greatly impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Our families have lived in tents on the property of the city's civic center, moved in with relatives, and stayed at local hotels. Prior to the storm, this was a low socioeconomic area. With the loss of housing and even some jobs, it has gotten even worse.
Through all of the setbacks, we have the best little school around.
Our students are smart and very eager to learn. They come to school daily with a willingness to become better students. There is a clear team with the parents as well. They are willing to do whatever it takes to help the students be successful.
My Project
In the past couple of years, we have been fortunate to take at least three field trips as a class. We try to have the students coordinate with school spirit shirts, color coordinate, or have shirts made. Unfortunately, the plan does not always work out. The parents may not have been able to purchase the school designated shirt, or may not have the color requested.
Imagine trying to keep up will all of the students in the sea of all area schools.
With this Cricut machine, we can ensure that the kids are in the correct dress and safely keep them together and in order. Shirts made will come in handy for school field days and even graduation.
