Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Throughout the course of my career, I have taught many different grade levels. My last 10 years have been with third graders. I love third grade. I have found my niche. Here’s the why... Third graders are 8 years old. Just 8. Old enough to handle some independence but young enough to still need guidance and are like little sponges still wanting to learn.
My Project
I am a big advocate of instilling in students that they CAN make a difference in their world. By being sensitive to Mother Nature and using her resources wisely students learn that the Earth gives back by way of food, beauty, and life. We start the year by learning to recycle, reuse, and reduce but then we take it much farther. They learn to reduce the waste that they produce. They learn to compost. They learn to grow flowers and food. I wish to instill a foundation that will last a lifetime.
