Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are hardworking, bright, young individuals. They attend school each and every day, ready to learn, and meet all high expectations. My students love challenges and face difficulties each and every day with smiles on their faces. My students come from a Title I school with a high population of English learners. Most come from a low-income household and have limited resources and experiences. To many of my students, their only chance of life-enriching activities are at school. They love school and I want to make this place the most enriching place for them!
My Project
My students have decided to take on the responsibility of spreading the good news and good vibes all around the school with our Leopard News and Word Up Podcast! They involve kids from Kinder through 6th grade, from teachers to school personnel. The shows were an instant success! The kids love watching the news and listening to the podcast, not to mention guest starring in the episodes. Kids look forward to each episode every other week!
Our news shows has made our school a fun place for all the students, as well as an excellent outlet for students to teach each other about ROAR ~ Respect, Ownership, great Attitude, and Responsibility!
With our popularity growing, however, we are in need of some equipment. We need a good microphone during indoor recording and an external hard drive. I believe that with these materials, we will continue to produce a great program that makes our school the best place the kids come to every day!
