My students consist of children in grades K-5th. Each student is on the Autism Spectrum Disorder ranging from mild to severe. Each student receives therapy for speech, language, occupational and physical.
Each student in my classroom and school are unique.
They each have specific skills that make them special. I love that my students have these skills and I make it my part as their teacher to let those special skills shine in my classroom.
My Project
Exceptional students have exceptional needs. Yes, I know this seems a bit broad but it is true! These materials will be used to create a multi-sensory based room to reach the needs of students on the Autism Spectrum as well as those with sensory needs within a Title 1 school.
This sensory room can be used by therapists and teachers to guide their students through sensory based experiences such as different sights, textures, sounds and movement within a safe, calming and welcoming environment.
Once student's sensory needs are met, they are able to function both physically, academically, emotionally and socially.
