My Students

Students at my school love to read! As a fifth grade teacher in the Bay Area, my students love to take a book outside and read in the sunlight. My students are inquisitive, voracious readers who are craving to discover the newest adventures in their favorite book series and read stories with familiarity. However, some students become "reluctant readers" if they struggle with reading or cannot find books that interest them.

My students recently returned to school after learning remotely last year!

My Project

During the past year, schools have looked differently because of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, many students learned from their homes with their teachers giving instruction on Zoom. To help students with their online learning, we coordinated supply pickups so that they may have materials at home to help them learn. These supplies included books!

Unfortunately, not all books were returned to the classroom at the end of the year.

As we return to school full time, I noticed some holes in my classroom library, most noticeably, books in a series. 5th graders love series such as The Land of Stories, Minecraft Zombie and many more! It is my hope to complete the series that are missing titles but also introduce my students to new series along the way! It is only week 2 of school and many have already asked if I have the rest of the books in a series they just started!
