Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Alternative high schools provide educational opportunities for students who have not been successful in a traditional high school setting. Whether students attend a traditional school or choose an alternative setting, all students deserve access to high-quality, high-interest books.

The alternative high school in my district has not had a functioning library in nearly 3 decades.

This year, we are building a new library from the ground up. The books on this list will help to begin a library collection suitable for high school students who have not found success in traditional school environments. The books on this list have been chosen for their high-interest stories and topics, diverse characters and authors, and varied reading-levels.

To support our growing library and promote literacy on campus, all English teachers are providing students with time to read each week. Help us to build a library that meets the needs of our diverse students by donating to this project.
