Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Since Pre-K is typically the first experience children have in school, my goal is to create and maintain a warm, inviting, and positive classroom environment conducive to learning. I have been teaching Pre-K for 15 years and can honestly say, “My Heart Belongs to Pre-K!” My school is in a struggling, economically disadvantaged community, consequently, we have not been able to purchase new tables. Most of my students receive free lunch and English is their second language. We have a wonderful community of parents who are involved, whenever available. These new tables will help my students work with the teachers and classmates during small group activities and special projects.

My Project

At times, my Pre-K class uses the carpet or tables, but the tables are preferred when we work in small groups, learning centers, special projects, journal time, and even lunch time. Many times our children are interested in similar activities, but we lack the space for them to work together. These tables will provide opportunities for students to work together in various ways such as; drawing, writing, reading, counting, building, or painting.

These specific tables have the added bonus of having a marker board tabletop, which will allow children to write on the tables with dry erase markers.

Having these tables will foster many learning experiences for my students. The possibilities are endless. Thank you for reading about my project and please help me fulfill this project.
