Help me give my students basic coding experience to develop computational thinking and problem-solving skills as they create and let their creativity flow in STEAM class.
I teach in a rural, farming community where over half of my students are from low-income households. While we have tremendous support from our parents and community, we are vastly underfunded. The lack of funding limits opportunities for students to create and explore. My goal is to close the opportunity gap for our low-income students by providing materials for maker space opportunities in the STEAM class.
I can do this with basic coding experience to develop computational thinking and problem-solving skills as they create and let their creativity flow in the STEAM class.
My Project
Students will use the Learn to Code File Folder Games during our STEAM classes. They will learn to work through the steps in a process by using the code manipulatives. Even our youngest students can learn how to code.
Coding teaches us how to break big problems down into little solvable problems.
It teaches us that we are capable of doing things that we never thought possible. The students will use these folder games to practice code while developing computational thinking and problem-solving skills as they create the most efficient sequence of actions in their codes.
These ready-to-use folder games help students master early coding skills! Children just follow the simple 3-step instructions to code a path from start to finish on 10 colorful, engaging folders.
