This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are in need of social and emotional materials to help them calm their bodies effectively in the classroom and have a calm-down space. Social-emotional learning is the process students take to understand, express, and manage their emotions. Sensory items and teacher resources will help my young students develop their own understanding of their emotions and be able to process them in healthy ways.

Students will use these materials (Calming pup, learning cubes, novelty keyboard, earbuds, etc.) to help learn mindful behavior as well as work to build empathy skills, emotional regulation, and positive relationships with peers and adults.

Students are more likely to achieve higher social, emotional, and academic skills later in life when they learn these skills in early childhood.
