All Hands on TECH - Full STE(a)M Ahead!

My Students

I teach at a detention center. We have 3 programs for various students.

First is our students who have made bad decisions, they are incarcerated while they await trial.

They really need us, teachers, to be a positive influence and help them find ways to redirect their lives.

The second group we service have been referred to a Day Skills Intervention for being removed from their area schools. They come for the day and are offered credit to help in the transition of being removed from their schools. They are with us until they can return back to school.

The third group has been removed from their homes for reasons out of their control and needs food and shelter. They are with us until they can return home or to a better situation.

We offer these kids an education and help them build appropriate behaviors for the return to a more favorable environment.

My Project

The students are going to learn about the SCIENCE of electronics by building a Microbit Rover. They will build the Rover using the technology provided within the Miro:bit Kit. During the process of building the Rover, they will use Electrical & Mechanical Engineering to learn about the Rover's form and function. This will push them to use their MATH to build and create a code that will move the rover through various obstacles.

This Microbit Rover Project is the ultimate resource to incorporate STEM.

The kit comes with all the resources you need to establish a complete project lesson plan.

After the completion of the Rover, the students will then design modifications that will either improve or assist the Rover in its function. The 3D filament will be used for this process. They will use their creativity to design, create, and print parts, obstacles, and other modifications for the Rover.
