This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are a bright, vibrant, and active group. Being in a low income/priority school and many coming from single/parent homes, they face many challenges outside of the classroom. However, they never fail to put their best foot forward, entering class with a smile on their faces. They love to interact with one another, move, and do hands on activities. I am looking to provide these children with experiences they may not receive elsewhere. We're ready to make the change!
My Project
This group of students love to do math; it is one of their favorite subjects. They enjoy being challenging, working through a math problem, and checking each others answers. One thing that we are missing in this classroom is math manipulatives. We had place value blocks, but those were damaged and now the students cannot use them. Since we need manipulatives in math, I have been using whatever we have available; crayons, erasers, or even scrap paper. In this project, we will be receiving everything we need to help make the lessons more engaging. Students will have all of the materials they need to help them in math. Again, our classroom loves math, but we are missing one more piece. This project will help our classroom get everything it needs to be successful.
