Plus, transitions are so much smoother when they need to get their materials.\r\n\r\nMy students love their headphones. They are good sturdy and reliable headphones that reduce external distractions which help my kids stay on task. They also were excited when they got to choose their own color.\r\n\r\nSnacks directly impact their behavior and ability to learn effectively. Fueling their bodies help to improve focus and performance and better behavior. I did not expect to have my goal completed in a single day! I have a shelf in my office where most of the materials are kept and each time a new student turns the corner their eyes light up and you can see a wave of relief and excitement wash over them. I am very thankful that I was able to include a variety of materials on my list, as it allows students to have some control over their environment, a luxury not always afforded to them. \r\n\r\nOne specific moment that made this all worth it happened last week when I asked a student, who has unfortunately already been labeled as \"problematic\", if they wanted to take a break in my office. In the class, they were on high alert, never seemed comfortable, very hyperactive and impulsive. In my office, with a fidget toy in hand, completely still, relaxed and focused on the questions I was asking. The teacher and didn't believe me at first when I reported back.
