All Artists Need Paper!

Help me give my students paper to create their artworks upon, as well as oil pastels, which will work great for between home and in-school learning.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Wengel's classroom raised $589

My Students

Our artists are amazing, hard-working, diligent and creative souls. The art classroom is a safe space for all of our art students ranging in abilities from beginner to advanced and A.P. Here, our artists de-stress from the academic rigors of their core classes, while exploring the various two dimensional media available to them. Our students love to explore drawing, painting and printmaking through various styles and techniques.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, we will be teaching art remotely as well as in a hybrid setting, requiring each student to have access to their own drawing materials.

To ensure the safety of teachers and classmates, shared items such as colored pencils, paints and pencils will need to be assembled into personal "art kits" for students to work from both during learning-at-home, as well as their time in the classroom. This accessibility and equity to materials comes at a cost increase, when in years past we were able to rely on shared supplies (class sets).

Additionally, we are facing budget cuts from the federal and state government, as well as the tightened pocket strings of families who may be facing their own financial struggles due to Covid-19.

My Project

Now that we've funded charcoal and colored pencils (yay and thank you!), let's get paper in the hands of our students to create pieces of art both big and small! These watercolor pads will be cut down to various sizes to maximize the cost and provide the most surfaces for our kids to work upon. They'll also hold charcoal, pastels and other paints; a great purchase. The tag board will be one of our first projects, which students will learn to fold and decorate into their own, personalized portfolio-case which will help keep their work safely at home (not dented and folded).

Learning color theory is a major part of our curriculum; and learning with a compact watercolor pallet and small set of oil pastels will do the trick!

These are usually the sets that we share class-to-class, but with learning from home, our artists will need sets of their own to use in the safety and comfort of their homes.
