I have two students that are my music librarians for our growing orchestra. They are vital players that organize and distribute music to violin, viola, cello, brass, and percussion. In our large orchestra, this is a very big job. They lead the younger students and model organization and responsibility.
They are passionate musicians that have played for all four years and are committed to helping all orchestra members.
In addition to being honor students in music, they are accomplished students in their academics.
My Project
My bass students have been working with bows that are falling apart and desperately need to be replaced. Our orchestra is blessed to have four bass players this year. Previously, we only had one and could let him use both types of bows. Now we need to have two French bows and one German style to be able to teach our bass players both types.
Music is a fantastic life-time skill.
Students who participate in music develop discipline and generally do better in their other courses. Music engages different parts of the brain both the critical and creative parts. It allows them to connect both parts.
