All About Creating and Sharing The Art!

Help me give my students access to more art supplies to benefit their artistic abilities, academic learning, and social skills.

My Project

Students create their own original fine art pieces throughout the school year in this drawing and painting class using a variety art supplies and expressing a wide range of themes. In addition to developing and creating their own original fine art pieces throughout the school year, students also complete weekly sketching assignments that require them to create sketches that meet a specific task. Both their original art pieces and sketching tasks specifically benefits students academic learning in regards to their understanding and abilities in the following areas: key vocabulary, a wide range of drawing and painting techniques, different art styles, different art types, using a variety of media, originality/creativity, and compositional development skills. Their artwork and sketches also benefit their social-emotional skills because after a whole class gallery walk of the artwork in progress and weekly sketching tasks, students meet with different peers every other week to share and get feedback for their artwork in progress and their sketching tasks. Students also regularly give and receive input on the artwork in progress with the peer they sit by, this occurs naturally during the art making progress. The pastel pencils, colored pencils and marker supplies selected will give students more opportunities to learn how to use different media, express themselves, and develop a wide range of drawing and painting skills. The art supplies selected we either have a very limited amount of or none at all and it would create to give all students an opportunity work with the media selected for this project.
