My students need 2 Kindle Fires and accessories to help them practice math facts, learn about the geography of the United States, explore science and discover art.

My Students

Technology? What technology? Our classroom is being left behind. My students come to class excited about learning only to be disappointed by the lack of materials in our room. We have one class computer that is primarily used by the teacher for student data rather than for student exploration.

My third grade students love to ask questions, search for answers, and share their knowledge with each other.

Most are second language learners and we have a few students included with special needs. With the wealth of technology my students are exposed to outside the classroom, it is as if they are stepping back in time when they come through my door. Our classroom does not have enough technology to enrich and support high level student learning.

My Project

By supplying my students with Kindle Fires in the classroom, I will be able to enhance and encourage high level student learning. Struggling students will be engaged in apps to help them master skills. Higher level students will be able to search for content to help them explore concepts with greater depth and complexity. Having Kindle Fires in the classroom will enable me to set up creative learning stations in the room. My students will have access to information and content to support collaboration for independent studies. It will enable me to manage and differentiate student learning for content studies while meeting individual student needs.

My students will feel empowered with these devices to take control of their learning.

They will want to practice and explore content standards. We need to create a balance with the wealth of knowledge and technology available to them outside the classroom with what is available to them inside the classroom. The addition of Kindle Fires to our classroom will definitely help to support creative learning experiences for all my students.
