My Project

My special education preschool students are at a critical developmental stage where play is the best vehicle for learning. The transportation-themed toys and activities—such as durable cars, construction vehicles, train sets, and road mats—will make a profound difference by immediately transforming our environment into a hub for imaginative, hands-on learning. These items naturally encourage dramatic play, which is essential for developing social skills, verbal communication, and narrative thinking. Pushing vehicles, building tracks, and maneuvering cars through cityscapes also provides excellent practice for fine motor control, visual-spatial awareness, and problem-solving skills. My goal for this project is to create a rich, stimulating, and accessible play environment where all 20 of my students can engage deeply with foundational concepts in a way that truly sustains their attention and meets their individual learning styles.

My students are an incredible group of young learners who come from various backgrounds and have a wide variety of needs.

They are naturally curious and eager to explore the world, but traditional instruction often misses the mark. Because they benefit most from exploring materials in different ways, providing theme-based materials like transportation toys allows us to weave academic concepts (like counting, sorting, and sequencing) directly into their play. This project will ensure that our classroom remains a positive, developmentally appropriate space where every child, regardless of their specific challenges, can find engaging ways to interact, communicate, and grow their skills through the universal language of play.
