My Students
My students create a family at the RHS Performing Arts Department. We are a performing arts family (bands, choirs, strings, theatre and dance) that support each other on the stage, in the classroom and beyond. We are a NJ high school, just outside NYC servicing a multicultural population of students from varying socioeconomic backgrounds. We strongly believe that the arts can instill positive change, transform, inspire and change lives. The Music program is a powerful unifier in our school.
We are going to build this program over a strong foundation and proud history and generations of arts students at RHS.
My Project
My students love to perform and are extremely motivated. They are eager and love creating music together. This is the third large production on our stage this year: Peter & the StarCatcher (Nov), You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (Jan), and Catch Me If You Can (Mar).
As a whole, my students cannot afford luxury supplies, such as these AAA batteries to fuel their body mics for the musical.
Our musical is at the end of March, and these tools will power our 20+ body mics for a week's worth of rehearsal. Each body mic takes 2 aaa batteries. These batteries would enable us to have fresh batteries for each performance.
“With music, one’s whole future life is brightened.
This is such a treasure in life that it helps us over many troubles and difficulties. Music is nourishment, a comforting elixir. Music multiplies all that is beautiful and of value in life.” – Zoltan Kodaly
Our students love to perform. Last year, we performed our musical for 2200+ community members. When our ensembles perform for the community and schools, it helps promote the importance of music education and spreads the good news of what our students are able to accomplish. These batteries will support our efforts as we are perform our March musical.
