This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at Williams Magnet Elementary School. My school is a Title 1 school serving 505 students, with 60% on free or reduced price lunches. Our student population is extremely diverse serving students from all cultural backgrounds including but not limited to; Caucasian, African-American, Asian, African and European. With this my students have very diverse needs.
My students have high energy and ready to express themselves in a physical way.
My students have diverse physical needs. We are a growing school with each class at full capacity. My students arrive ready to engage in physical activity.
My Project
My students are energetic and needs lots of activity in gym class. We need a compressor to air up gym equipment from balloons to basketballs to a giant beach ball for class and Field Day activities. We do not currently have an air compressor.
I want my students to engage in lifetime sports and exercise.
Kindergarten through second grade need to learn how to volley using hands and paddles. Third through fifth need the compressor for bigger inflatable items. We have a basketball team. For Field Day we use hoppers, volleyballs, beach balls, and other nozzle inflatable items that require a compressor. Every student in our school will benefit from this new equipment.
