Fundamental movement is a skill that is essential to master in the elementary school years. Fundamental movement includes various body parts and provides the foundation for physical literacy; a skill needed by all. These movement skills help in body control, fine and gross motor skills. My students are exceptional music learners; they can master any skill set if it is applied to a beat. Musical Beats are crucial in the physical educational environment. The gymnasium at my school is connected to the cafeteria and is a large open space. We have enough land on our school grounds that we go outside whenever the weather permits. We need a speaker that can work inside and outside to provide the music for all movement lessons; a pivotal portion of the PE standards. Music also helps to keep students on task and engaged in PE activities.
