We are a Title I school in a city school district. In our public city school, many scholars are diverse, multiple language learners and at-risk readers. Currently, the entire school population receives free breakfast and lunch. Many scholars are also from low-income households. However, they are warm, loving and continually searching for ways to grow and become better each day. I am honored to teach such wonderful children.
I enjoy providing scholars a multitude of experiences to connect the curriculum and enhance their learning while promoting equitable access and allowing them to be creative and stimulate their curiosity.
My scholars are eager to learn, excel and connect the curriculum in the school library media center. As the school librarian, I am able to reach every student in the school. I have been teaching for 18 years, and I take a great deal of pride in my work. I strive to make learning fun and engaging as I have been focusing on transdisciplinary learning to help scholars have authentic and powerful learning experiences.
My Project
Our high school library is an old building without any air conditioning. I open up windows for a cross breeze, but sometimes it is impossible to breathe with the heat and humidity in New York. Many scholars come to the library for getting work done, reading and using the computer. It is difficult to be in an airless room, but worse when many people are in it, too. The requested fan will help circulate the air and provide some relief to all patrons.
The diffuser with essential oils will help to relax scholars' bodies and minds and mentally prepare them for the challenges in their day.
Research has shown that air quality and calming scents help to provide mental clarity, relieve stress and tension and clear the mind.
