My Students
I work in a city school that has a very diverse population of students who are caring, kind and compassionate. Many students are refugees from other countries and do not speak English as a first language so through art they are able communicate with more than just talking.
Many of my students come from hardship and are well below the poverty level. So when they are at school I feel that it is crucial to give them the tools and supplies they need in order to succeed. My budget for art class is only $200 a year for almost 800 students! I am truly grateful to anyone that can help my students get a better education.
My Project
Art at my school moved from being on a cart to a classroom! With this happening I am in desperate need of 3D art materials that I was not able to use on the cart.
With only a budget of $200 air dry clay unfortunately did not fit into the budget.
Students will be making pinch pot mugs inspired by a monsters to create monster mugs. Learning how to use clay and create 3D art is a crucial part of art class. They will also learn about color schemes by painting the mugs once they are finished with tempera paint.
