Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students love hands on activities, stations and rotations, projects, and most importantly SCIENCE!
Through anonymous surveys and student feedback, I've learned that my students love it when I provide them with learning environments where they get to explore and discover on their own.
To be successful at this I teach my students that organization and focus is key. My students love feeling like they have control over their learning. I prefer not to ask my students to bring in consumable materials for these projects due to the expense of the resources. As the only seventh grade science teacher it can be difficult to acquire the amount of materials needed to continuously do hands on activities and projects. I have a truly incredible group of young minds that would jump over the moon for me. Help me teach them science in the best way possible, by doing!
My Project
During a recent training I have discovered multiple ways to help students reflect on their own growth and aim for success. In order to do this I need ways to maintain accurate records. This will be achieved by having a file for each of my students.
I'm requesting a variety of file folders, plastic clipboards, and storage file boxes.
Having a file for each individual student will allow me to focus on each students specialized needs and modify accordingly.
This file would be used during student conferences as well as parent teacher conferences. I strive to interact in an encouraging and supportive way that respects professional boundaries while encouraging meaningful growth. I'm creating a classroom environment where the students are aware of their strengths and weaknesses. I can foster social, emotional, and academic skills, mindsets, and habits among students by keeping accurate records using the materials that will (hopefully) be funded by this project.
