My Students

My students are extremely energetic, enthusiastic, and eager to please. They love having a positive environment to learn and they are extremely motivated by positive feedback. Students LOVE to be rewarded in small ways (don't we ALL!).

Each of my enthusiastic students receives 125 minutes/week in Physical Education.

Each week I get to see students ages 5-11. They are working hard every day with executing their exercises, running, and playing games. Grades 3-5 participate in an assessment that measures fitness levels. They are extremely dedicated to creating goals and obtaining them. They are truly an inspiration to me!

My Project

My hope for this project is for my PE students to be motivated to move more, be positively reinforced in their behavior, and to have positive recognition in front of their classmates. All students will receive this opportunity through a Treasure Box Incentive Program.

The way it works: Students are frequently recognized for effort, attitude, and sportsmanship throughout the their time in PE.

Each time they are recognized, the student will place a ticket in their class jar with the students' name on it. Each Friday, the teacher will draw 2-3 names out of the jar. Students whose name are drawn will be able to choose from the treasure box.

Students LOVE to be recognized for their efforts. this type of positive reward system will allow for ALL students to be recognized for their efforts. Students will become self-motivated and responsible for their own behavior. They will also be inspired by others' efforts, which in turn will create a positive environment. I have 12 groups that come through the gym every 2 days. Each group has 40-55 students.

The treasure box will contain small trinkets as well as tickets for things such as 1. First in Line 2. Exercise Leader 3. Walk/Run & Talk with a friend.
