Ahhhh Chooo! Protect me While I Read

My Students

My third grade students come in with a wide range of knowledge. They come from various social and economical backgrounds. Many of our students are experiencing homelessness. 100% of the students receive free lunch and for some, school is their safe haven.

The school relies on partners to help fund the food and clothing pantry and outside help to donate supplies throughout the year.

These donations help our students and their families live month to month. For some of the students, the meals they get at school are the only meals they eat.

My classroom is a place the students feel safe and comfortable to be themselves. We are a family and I love our daily interactions.

My Project

Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy. Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind-I have watched them the past few weeks of school read titles just like these, and I have also asked them what type of books they would enjoy reading. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time. My students would greatly benefit by having their own individual dry erase boards in order to work out math problems in class. The health supplies are essential with the rise of Covid cases and I want to protect them as much as possible.
