My students range from 6th-12th grade, so I have a very diverse group of learners. My classes consist of introductory agriculture courses, as well as more advanced courses such as Animal Science, Horticulture, and Agricultural Mechanics.
My students are creative, motivated and most importantly eager to learn.
I am always thrilled to enhance experiences in the agriculture classroom with new ideas, curriculum, and supplies. Being a second year agriculture program, there is so much potential for growth in our department. Seeing students excited to explore new careers and skills is incredibly rewarding.
My Project
Currently I have 138 6th-12th grade students. In the spring semester, I will have new group of middle school students - which brings the total number of students in my classroom each year to nearly 200. With so many busy & creative students throughout the day, we do go through a lot of basic supplies.
Teaching agriculture means that in addition to consistently picking up new colored pencils, poster paper and hand sanitizer - I'm also regularly running to the store for hardware, shop towels and seeds.
Items like colored pencils and glue sticks will be used to create everything from colorful posters to agricultural science fair displays. Other items like index cards and small dry erase boards will be used for review games and projects. Uniform binders and clear covers will be a home for students' Supervised Agricultural Experience records.
Having basic classroom needs fulfilled will enhance creativity & learning. This will also allow additional resources to be focused on curriculum and lab supplies, rather than basics.
