Afterschool Math Club Needs Logical Thinking Games

My students need the following games which provide logical thinking skills practice: Blokus, Blokus Trigon, 2 sets of the card game Blink, 2 sets of the IZZI Puzzle, and 1 copy of the book "200 Things to do with Logic Blocks".

I am the sponsor of the younger grades math club. I also teach second graders in North Carolina. We have a large population of English Speakers of other languages. We also have a high percentage of at risk students; approximately 75% or more of our students are on free or reduced lunch.

Do you remember playing games with your family before ever starting school? Some of the most beneficial skills that many of us learned were from these game times. Several of my students struggle with basic skills that these games can provide.

I will be working with students after school in a math club to help them build their basic skills. We will be using fun, high interest games to help them gain confidence in their thinking skills. I have some materials to get the club started but would love to be able to provide them with these great games as resources to make the math club more fun.

We need some new games and activities that are hands on to help build these skills. We have had great success with the upper grades math club. I am excited to see that same success with the younger grades. These games would also be made available to my students to further their math skills also.
