My students need an array of books by contemporary African-American authors and/or books about African-Americans.
This project expired on June 2, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students come from all walks of life, creating a diverse classroom where they learn from one another on a daily basis. I want them to grow up to be critical thinkers and life-long learners who are compassionate, empathetic, and cognizant of anyone and everyone. The students that I have the pleasure of teaching are absolutely amazing. I may be partial, but they are thoughtful teenagers who are going to change the world!
It is time to invest in their futures now, by bringing them the best educational tools to help them succeed in their current and future endeavors in order to create innovative leaders of the future.
I try to do this every day, but it really does take a village!
Our classroom library continues to grow--thanks to donors! This project is to expand the number of African-American authors and/or books about African-Americans to fill the shelves even more. It is important for all students to see themselves in books and to read an array of authors about diversity.
Our library needs to reflect not only the diverse student body at our school, but the diverse community around the students--celebrating diversity through reading is essential.
Having contemporary books that appeal to students and entices them to read in order to become lifelong readers is so important. This project will allow our classroom library grow and become even more diverse!
