My students are full of energy, excitement, and love learning! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. They are my daily inspiration!
Many students in my classroom are excited to read and learn about nonfiction.
Our school is located in North Carolina. About half of our student population struggles with poverty.
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, and games. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!
My Project
We need more nonfiction books in our classroom library! These books will enhance my classroom for many years. Our classroom library is full of great fiction titles for every student, but students often struggle to meet standards in nonfiction. Knowing this is a weakness for many of my students is the reason these books will make such a big impact in our classroom. Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind-I have carefully selected titles that will interest them, and be suitable for their reading levels. Students will have an array of nonfiction books to choose from to ensure that they will enjoy independent reading time.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of nonfiction books that will allow them to read independently on their own grade level.
They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
