My Project

Imagine a world where every high school student eagerly dives into a book, inspired by stories that reflect their interests. In today’s fast-paced world, however, high school students often overlook reading due to competing forms of entertainment. Many reluctant readers find books hard or boring, primarily because they haven’t encountered stories that resonate with their interests. I aim to change this by broadening access to engaging literature, particularly titles by Jason Reynolds and other adventure and sports-oriented authors.

The books I am requesting will serve as a crucial gateway to ignite a passion for reading among reluctant readers.

They will increase our library's offerings and help us match more readers to books. By offering relatable characters and thrilling plots, I want to capture their attention and enhance literacy skills while fostering a love for storytelling. Engaging with these texts will help students develop critical thinking skills, improve vocabulary, and learn to enjoy reading.

I have several goals for this DonorsChoose project. I aim to

increase engagement by fostering active participation in reading through relatable and exciting books. I want to help students develop a love for reading and inspire them to view reading as an enjoyable activity rather than a chore.

This will help build a community of readers. It will empower individual students and contribute to a more literate and engaged community, fostering connections and discussions beyond the classroom.

My students are diverse and face challenges that make traditional literature difficult to engage with. They are curious and full of potential but often need the right catalyst to unlock their love for reading. By providing access to books reflecting their interests, I can help them see reading as a doorway to adventure and growth.

Investing in these books is an investment in my students' futures, empowering them to become lifelong readers who appreciate the magic of literature. Thank you!
