Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are advanced learners. They thrive on challenge and acceleration. They all learn quickly and try to intake as much as possible. My students are very curious at their age, and they often ask thoughtful questions. My students have an advanced ability to reason and draw conclusions from given information.

My students really enjoy designing and engineering something new each day.

Some of them come to class hungry, and others come without proper hygiene. They are diverse and love using their creativity, exploring hands-on-activities, and reading books. They love to make their own things. Many of my students are English Language Learners, and they love books and learning. My students come from different backgrounds but come together like a family. Many of my students struggle financially, but they persevere. They are future engineers, doctors, artists, and leaders. They love to learn in history class.

My Project

Early awareness about colleges and universities is very important. An early understanding of their interests, available opportunities, admission criteria and the effort required are important for a student to secure admission into their dream university.

Promotion of early college awareness in middle school increases high school retention, builds self esteem, provides mentors, increases parental involvement, promotes college attendance and increases financial and college/career awareness.

I would like to showcase on our class wall, a corner where I can provide and make inviting for my students to want grab information from one of the universities. I want the backdrop to be nice and big to grab their attention as well as the hot air balloons and lights to be placed inside. I want the 20 pocket rotation rack to place brochures with the information of the universities. I have also included some paper bags, compasses and passports to create a day in the week where we can travel to a different university and write down information about it. The pennants will help serve to identify some of the university options.

This wall will help give my students an opportunity to have a field trip to different universities from our class.
