Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is extremely technology based and environment friendly. My students and I love to recycle. We greet each other every morning and have a true passion to learn.
My students attend a Title I school.
Our school has an 85% free and reduced lunch rate. The students have minimal schema due to their low income home situations. They do not realize just how much the world has to offer because they have never had the opportunity to see outside of our small town.
However, the home life of my students does not change their eagerness to learn. They want to be the best they can be and become even better students. They love anything they can put their hands on and call their own. They especially love feeling as though they are special.
My Project
As a teacher, I try to use a minimal amount of paper. Therefore, the whiteboards and dry erase markers I am requesting will assist in this effort. Students love having the opportunity to work on their own whiteboard rather than on a piece of paper. They love even more being able to hold up their work for teacher assessment.
My students would use these whiteboards on a daily basis, especially during mathematics. These whiteboards will be perfect for partner work, as well. My students love to work on task cards and often need additional space to complete the equations.
The donations will not only improve my classroom but also the environment.
We will be using less paper and pencils and students will be able to quickly answer problems and be checked. Students are more engaged when using these whiteboards rather than paper.
The whiteboards will provide a sense of importance to my students. They do not get to call something "their own" very often. These whiteboards will be considered their own while they are in my classroom.
