Help me give my students AP Chemistry lab kits such as chemical bonding, titrations, gravimetric analysis, calorimetry with thermometers, electrochemical series to investigate advanced inquiry labs that foster real-life applications.
"A great responsibility comes from within". This is the first quote that comes into my mind when I think of my students. My students have intrinsic motivation, dedication, perseverance, inquisitive minds and creativity, and are leaders who consider empathy to make sure everyone can learn and be successful. A majority of my students learn the best by "doing" as I often hear from students telling me, "Ms. Verma, we should do labs every day." They are special because they make me improve my teaching methodology and make me conscious that I should provide them with adequate materials to facilitate a student-directed learning environment rather than a traditional direct teaching method. My students are the ones who respect the given materials and will make a great use of them.
If this project is funded, it will help my advanced placement, AP Chemistry students to investigate various concepts such as chemical bonding, analysis of unknown concentration of acid/base in food beverages, how hard the drinking water is, the heat of solutions using calorimetry with digital thermometers, and chemical reactions that produce how much electrode potential.
Using these AP Chemistry lab kits and thermometers, students will be highly engaged and investigate at an advanced level with real-life applications and will help prepare well for the AP exam from the College Board.
These lab kits will help me facilitate student-directed investigations as they will collaborate in their groups and explore, engage, explain, evaluate, and elaborate upon their investigations.
